Paris Saint-Germain Edges Olympique de Marseille on Penalties to Lift Trophee des Champions Super Cup in the Middle East.

Trophy celebration scene

PSG has now secured the prestigious trophy on fourteen different times.

Paris Saint-Germain required a dramatic leveler followed by a perfect spot-kick decider to get past Marseille in Kuwait and secure a fourth straight Trophee des Champions title.

The European champions seemed to be sailing towards a comfortable win in the match between the French league winners and the Coupe de France winners after Ousmane Dembele opened the scoring early on.

Yet, the southern French side fired twice in the closing moments to seize a surprise advantage. Initially, Mason Greenwood converted from the spot-kick, before Willian Pacho inadvertently directed the ball into his own net for an own-goal.

In a remarkable turn of events, Goncalo Ramos snatched a vital leveler in the dying seconds to force the match into a deciding shootout. The Parisian shot-stopper Chevalier then stood as the key figure, saving decisive kicks from Matt O'Riley and Traore.

In the shootout, Goncalo Ramos, the midfielder, the full-back, and Desire Doue all scored successfully for PSG to seal a 4-1 penalty win.

Now 14-time winners PSG, who faced last season's Ligue 1 second-placed team Marseille after completing a domestic double, have now won this competition for the 12th time in the last thirteen years.
